I got to go Fall Clothes Shopping a couple weekends ago, with our Favorite Aunt who was visiting from NYC! I get SO excited for her annual visits because she is my ONLY shopping buddy (who actually enjoys shopping) and a fellow fashionista, which means while the guys stay home to watch football, we get to talk fashion and shop-shop-shop to our hearts’ content! This is the person who turned me on to my favorite store, Macy’s. She is married to a former 30+ year Macy’s employee and she really knows how to work the sales and coupons, resulting in more clothes for our money! There is a definite art to pairing the right items with the right coupons to get the best deals, and it is SO worth that time and hassle. I came away with 3 dresses, 2 tops and 3 swearers for UNDER $200! At full ticket price we were looking at $460ish. Thank you, Macy’s! Up until a few years ago, I was not a Macy’s fan. The over stocked merchandise was a turn off and the poor customer service really irked me. The sales seemed too complicated. But now, I prefer the overstocked merchandise because it means MORE OPTIONS! I have a faaaar greater variety of styles to pick from throughout the store than I ever do when shopping at Nordstrom (sorry Nordies, I still love you). I can provide my own customer service (Nordstrom still wins there, hands down). But most of all,the prices are fantastic when I am able to hit those sales with coupon days just right. And, now they have MAC!!!!
On to my featured outfit for this week… I loved this outfit because it was SO comfy and easy to wear. The dress is very soft and stretchy and has a fun sparkly gold thread running throughout the weave. It’s in one of my favorite fall colors (they call it Vintage Wine). I chose to layer over jeans for a more casual look. I like how the tone of the jeans and the tone of the dress color are similar. The cut of this dress reminds me of one of my favorite dresses from back in High School, that dress was black and I would wear it with either cranberry colored tights or black and white striped tights with either Docs or Clodhoppers, back in the day (1989-93). My 15 year old self, like, totally approves of this 40 year old version. =o)
What I’m wearing:
Dress – Maison Jules – Macy’s, Fall 2015
Jeans – Levi’s 535 leggings – discontinued and now called 710 Super Skinny Jeans – Macy’s, Winter 2015
Riding Boots – Jessica Simpson – Macy’s, Fall 2012
Necklaces and bracelets – Ginger & Zimt (I made)
I am linking up this week with and with The Stylish Housewife!
